I'm Writing a Thriller

Well, I’m writing a thriller.

At least, I think it’s a thriller. It’s got twists and turns, villains, carjacking, guns, knives, high stake conflicts, chase scenes. Not sure about the page turning suspense, but it’s all new territory to me.

Well, not completely new territory, as it is a young adult book. The working title is No Hero. The protagonist is Ray Peterson, son of Ray senior, who is on the run and wants to keep a low profile. But when Ray Jr chases down a couple of car jackers and gets his name and face on the local news, it doesn’t bode well for his father’s past.

It has pieces of what I’m used to writing. Family drama, a bit of romance, and of course, sports (Ray is a boxer), but otherwise, it’s all action, all the time.

I’d written a few scenes last year, then came back to it more recently and found my groove. Now I’m going through the first crappy draft and improving on things. Hopefully it will be fun to read. One thing is for sure, don’t even be afraid to branch out. I mean, I know they say write what you know, but sometimes changing things up can recharge things.

I’ll keep you posted on how things are going, maybe post a chapter or two.
